The „Vasile Alecsandri” Lyceum in Ungheni stays 7th in the country at the BAC

The ranking published by the Ministry of Education and the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation places the „Vasile Alecsandri” Theoretical Lyceum in Ungheni 7th out of 312 theoretical lyceums, with an exam average of 8,81 and a 100% pass rate — the second time in a row in the same position and the only lyceum from outside Chișinău to reach the top ten. But the document says something else about the raion as well: six of Ungheni's eight lyceums obtained better averages than last year, yet three fell in the ranking. The explanation lies in the way the list is ordered — by pass rate, not by average.

Ten Ungheni students with straight 10s honoured at the first excellence gala — and there are now six at the Baccalaureate, not four

On Friday, the Ungheni District Council held the first edition of its «Ungheni — Where Excellence Inspires» gala and awarded a diploma, a cash prize and flowers to ten students who scored a final mark of 10 in every national exam: six high-school graduates and four from lower secondary. Meanwhile, the final Baccalaureate results have raised the number of Ungheni students with straight 10s from four, as the preliminary data showed, to six — and this time one of them is a boy.

Six Ungheni graduates earned straight 10s at the Baccalaureate: the country's second town, after Chișinău

After appeals, six graduates from the town of Ungheni finished the 2026 Baccalaureate with a top mark of 10, not four: Ionela Lefter, Andreea Mușet, Doina Prepeliță, Alexandrina Rîsîpanu, Anastasia Rusu and Nichita Țurea. Nationally the final figure is 114 candidates, up from 85 in the preliminary results. Among the country's towns, Ungheni comes right after Chișinău — and four of the six are from the same high school.
